FORWARD OPERATING BASE EAGLE

Client: Texas Military Department (TMD) | Timeline: 307 Days | Location: South Texas

The Story

Within 24 hours of receiving the RFP, THS anticipated client needs and proposed an 80-acre land parcel to build a fully turnkey camp for 2,300 soldiers, leading to securing the project award just 48 hours later. THS was able to secure land located on the Rio Grande River, making it an ideal location for the client’s operation. The camp’s primary objective was to enhance morale by providing a superior living environment for the soldiers. To exceed this goal, THS designed recreational spaces that promote camaraderie and relaxation, while also providing private modular housing to create a home-like environment. Along with that, the on-site THS team was trained to deliver exceptional, hospitality-focused service to all guests. Additionally, long-term cost savings and improved operational efficiency were achieved by integrating existing utility infrastructure and working closely with the client to stay within budget.

Key Challenges

Going into this project the City of Eagle Pass had not experienced a project of this caliber taking place in their jurisdiction. THS worked alongside the city to expedite the permitting process to keep the project on track with the timeline. Initially, the project was going to be fully incorporated into the city’s electrical grid. However, due to other developments power had to allocated elsewhere, THS was able to adapt and find alternative solutions to power the camp. Due to the location, THS worked alongside the fire marshal to ensure that the camp would have enough water pressure to be capable of putting out a fire on its own without needing outside assistance.

Our Advantage

With the soldiers’ wellbeing in mind, THS made it a top priority to improve the quality of life for all personnel and go beyond just the necessities. Each soldier has their own living quarters and top-notch catering provides soldiers with 3 to 4 quality meals a day, including weekly themed meals.  THS also coordinates weekly events and activities for soldiers on site.
